![]() I really like the G2C for its size, capacity (12+1), and feel. I have both the PT-111 G2 and the G2C (pretty much the same gun). Simply concentrate on mastering the platform you currently have now. If you can shoot and operate the TH9 well I see no reason to 'trade up' to a G3. Of course having a manual thumb safety adds another layer of safety. With a striker-fired pistol there is nothing to provide a tactile feel that something may be wrong. ![]() ![]() As you are inserting the pistol into a holster, anything that is causing that trigger to depress with move the hammer rearward thus giving you a tactile feel of that movement and an indicator something is wrong. With a hammer-fired pistol or revolver the common training is to place your thumb on the back part of the slide, on the hammer. When it is inserted, or already in the holster pressure is exerted on the trigger causing it to depress and the weapon discharges. The main issue is that a foreign object has gotten into the trigger guard of the weapon. A lot of negligent discharges with a pistol occur when holstering the weapon or in the holster. ![]() In terms of safety I would have to give the nod to hammer-fired pistols. Other folks prefer striker-fired pistols. My personal preference is a hammer-fired DA/SA pistol due to my training and experience. One isn't better or worse than the other, simply different. The TH9 is a hammer-fired pistol, the G3 is a striker-fired pistol.
